2005 Daryl Starbird Show

A buddy of mine offered to pay my way into the 48th annual Starbird Car Show in Wichita Ks. for my birthday present. I accepted, thinking it might be a pretty good time, since I only go about every 2-3 years, (to keep the experience “fresh”).

On the way, we got to wondering who might be there pinstriping... I was happy to see there was a great example of talent there.

Dave Hightower, Bill Pelton, Ron Meyers, Howie Nisgor, ‘Lil Toot, Alton Gillespie, Neo, Randy Z, Zig, and Steve Kafka were all busy promoting the "Art of The Brush", on all types of items.

Kenny Youngblood was doing his "Cartoons"...

Steve Kafka was working the table with a crowd of "Future Artists", showing the youngsters how to hold his new brushes and letting them “hands on stripe” on the paper top of the table... There was a constant crowd of kids everytime I went by!

Bill Pelton was doing a neat little cartoon of a "Fire Ant" on a guitar, while Dave Hightower worked on a wolf panel.

Alton Gillispie had done a couple of panels of "Rat Fink" art, which sold for $800 & $600 at the auction, (Pelton is holding one of them up during the auction).

A Stainless wheel cover, was passed around in an impromptu "panel jam" with a collaboration of stripers, each adding their own talents to the surface.

’Lil Toot was busy with a hotrod panel, while "Howie" was striping a ‘57 Chevy Trunk, for a local car show participant, (Larry Lawless).

There were some Kool painted items, like a "flamed out" Vornado house fan, a "skulled" pedal car, and lots of other Auto Art on Harleys and Hotrods alike. There was even a member of the military there... The General Lee!!!

These are some of the pics from the show... Overall... One of the "Koolest" Birthdays I’ve had in several years!!

KEEP IT KOOL!
